What we can do for you

If you should become unable to pay your home loan instalments, please speak to us so that we can help you choose a payment solution that puts your financial well-being first. The following are scenarios that we can help you with:

We have various options available to help you catch up on missed instalments or if you are going on pension or are being retrenched. Options are based on your financial situation. Contact us on 0860 553 573 for information.

You could consider a distressed restructure. This option helps you make your instalments more affordable. With this option we capitalise the current arrears on your account either over the remaining term or an extended term on your home loan account. This will give you peace of mind that your home loan payments are up to date. Certain terms and conditions apply to this solution. Send us an email to HLRestructureassistance@nedbank.co.za or call 010 217 1023 for more information.

With the Nedbank-assisted Sales programme we can help you sell your house at the best price and give you the opportunity to make a fresh start. If this sounds like the solution for you, we are ready to help. Call us on 010 217 1008 or email us at NASEnquiries@nedbank.co.za.

  • Peace of mind – no more taking calls from the legal and collections department.

  • A healthy credit bureau status, with arrears cleared on your loan account.

  • Extra cash because of a possible lower instalment.

Moratoriums

A moratorium (also known as a grace period) is when Nedbank Home Loans grants a payment holiday to Nedbank home loan accountholders for 1 to 3 months.

paper work

How does it work?

Clients are allowed to pay between 0% and 50% of their home loan instalment and thereafter have the option to settle arrears fully or in line with another arrangement. This is a temporary solution.

How can it help me?

This helps clients keep their contractual commitments after a change in their circumstances – for example unpaid maternity leave, retrenchment, retirement, medical conditions, or salary changes.

Documents you'll need

  • A signed letter of motivation setting out why we should consider giving you a payment holiday.

  • Latest 3 months' bank statements.

  • A letter from work confirming your salary cut, maternity leave, retirement, retrenchment, or medical incapacity.

house selling

Benefits of a moratorium

  • Pay a reduced instalment over the moratorium period.
  • Enjoy a financial break while waiting for funds to be paid out.
  • Get financial relief and peace of mind during the maternity period.
  • No longer receive calls from the legal and collections department.
  • Possibly qualify for a restructure at the end of the moratorium.
